Welcome to Loma Portal Elementary

Attention all Loma Portal Elementary ALUMNI:
Please help us get ready for Loma Portal Elementary's 100th Anniversary.
Join the Loma Portal Elementary Alumni page on Facebook and share your Loma Portal memories!

Loma Portal is located in the Point Loma area of San Diego, behind Point Loma High School. Loma Portal is a warm, vibrant, and active learning community supported by strong parent and community involvement.
Built in 1914, Loma Portal has a long history of nurturing excellence in education. Our dedicated staff members are committed to providing a quality education for all students.
Our active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) supports teaching and learning in our classrooms and sponsors a number of evening family events, which students and their families enjoy. In addition, we have a tremendous group of parents and staff who comprise our Loma Portal Foundation. The Foundation has supported and funded
on-going technology at our school site. Together, Loma Portal students, staff, parents and community work to inspire all students to realize and achieve their optimal potential.

Loma Portal Elementary School celebrated its 90th birthday in 2004! Loma Portal families of past and present attended the celebration, in some cases several generations of Loma Portal attendees! We have a large collection of memorabilia and photographs (including class pictures dating back to the 1940's). These photos/albums are still available for viewing in our Library (please make an appointment through the office). Many third and fourth generation students were delighted to have the opportunity to view the old photos and share memories of their days at Loma Portal.

The school continues to provide an academically rich and dynamic education to all of its students in its unique, historic atmosphere. Over the years its students have became astronauts, doctors, civil engineers, architects, Board of Education members or swimmers of the English Channel....and they continue to change the world  every day.
