Fundraising
Our PTA uses fund raising to support specific programs and services. The objective is to raise just enough to maintain the annual budget. Our fundraisers for this year will be Sally Foster® Gift Wrap, Entertainment Books®, Book Fairs, eScrip, and our annual Jog-a-thon.

No gift is too small when it comes to providing for our children. We encourage all of you to give what you can. Please consider a generous contribution, whether it is with time or dollars, to any of the Loma Portal parent organizations. It pays dividends to your children, their school, and it's tax-deductible! Please donate!

FREE Money for Loma Portal!
With no annual fee, Loma Portal Elementary receives up to 8% of your purchases from participating merchants including Vons, Macy's, Payless Shoes, Eddie Bauer, Stumps Apple Market, Avon, Big 5, and even Century 21. Register your Vons, credit, or debit cards here. Our Group ID # is 137682473. Parents, teachers, friends and family (even if they live in another state) are encouraged to register with the program.

Gift Wrap

Every September, the students of Loma Portal sell Sally Foster® Gift Wrap. One of the PTA's biggest fundraisers, we receive 50% of all sales from the Sally Foster® Gift Wrap drive. These profits pay for our wonderful Librarian, Mindy Fenska.

Book Fair
Date: Fall (week of Back to School Night) & Spring (week of Open House)
The PTA will sponsor a Scholastic Book Fair held in the auditorium. A wide selection of affordable, quality books and teaching aids are available. Parents volunteer to work at this event. There is also the opportunity to help fill your child's classroom with books by purchasing books from the teacher's "Wish List".

Jog-a-thon
Date: TBD
This annual fundraiser is the PTA's other biggest fundraiser. It provides the families of Loma Portal the opportunity to directly contribute to their students enrichment with grade specific fieldtrips and assemblies, school wide author assemblies, music, and other direct classroom support. Children (along with their parents) procure sponsors, then run or walk laps on the playground. After the tallies are in, prizes are given to those who ran/walked the most laps and those who raised the most money.

This is a fun and healthy opportunity-look in your Tuesday packet in early spring for more information. Plan to attend this festive day of school spirit and cheer our children on as they jog!

2nd Annual Loma Portal's Home & Garden Tour
Date: May 19, 2007
On a glorious spring day, we will again enjoy homes and gardens of our Loma Portal Families. The Loma Portal PTA is sponsoring a tour of homes & gardens in our neighborhood that highlight the grand historic tradition of Loma Portal. Tickets can be purchased in advance or the day of the tour at Loma Portal Elementary. A craft faire of student created arts & crafts will be located at the school on the day of the event.

All proceeds from the tour will benefit Loma Portal Elementary School's school wide music program & music teacher. Tickets available for purchase at Loma Portal Elementary. More information to come. 619-223-1683


4th Grade Bake Sale on Thursdays
Date: Weekly on Thursdays
This weekly fundraiser occurs at 1:05 p.m. in the lunch arbor after school lets out on Thursdays. Funds raised by the bake sale are used for an over-night field trip on the Star of India and the 4th Grade End-of-Year Promotion celebration.
 
Loma Portal Logo Wear
Date: Spirit Friday's
Get into the school spirit! We encourage students and parents to wear their Loma Portal Elementary logo wear on Spirit Fridays and to school outings and functions. Logo Wear is available for sale year-round and is available in Youth, Women's, and Men's sizes. We  have several designs in short sleeve, long sleeve and hooded sweatshirts! Also show your support by picking up a new vinyl sticker for your car or maybe your child’s binder! *Note: logowear is not a fundraiser.
